Presidential spokesman Eduardo Sánchez denied that President Enrique Peña Nieto spoke with multi-millionaire Carlos Slim who on Monday defended the construction of the new airport… PAN, PRI and Green Party candidates defended Slim in the senate.
Sánchez was responding to comments from presidential frontrunner Andrés Manuel López Obrador who said that Peña Nieto asked Slim to create a controversy over the airport.
PRI presidential candidate José Antonio Meade called on the INE to investigate where the small plane that López Obrador used on his tour of Sonora came from… PAN and Green Party deputies said López Obrador said he was “inconsistent” on his part to use the aircraft.
López Obrador said the aircraft is a public taxi and he used it to fly 1,000 kilometers… He accused his opponents of wanting to “create scandal” because the election is 70 days off but he said he would stand strong and resist the attacks.
PAN-PRD presidential candidate Ricardo Anaya said that if he wins he will continue with the new airport but will audit contracts.
