Sunday marked 10 months since a brutal incident in Iguala, Guerrero in which local police allegedly infiltrated by narco-gangs forcefully disappeared 43 Ayotzinapa teacher training college students after killing another six people on the spot… Authorities have charged 110 persons in the case but none has been sentenced… Two of the main suspects continue to be fugitives.
Ten months after the forced disappearance of 43 Ayotzinapa teacher training college students some 400 people marched from the Angel of Independence monument to the Juarez Hemicycle monument in Mexico City. The families of the missing students said that a National Human Rights Commission Report contradicts the Federal Attorney General’s statement about a “historical truth.”
Teachers and teacher training college students staged protests in Morelos as part of protests in the Ayotzinapa case… Activists lamented that 10 months after the incident authorities have failed to come up with a “believable and real” version of the abduction and whereabouts of students.
Senate speaker Miguel Barbosa said cases such as Ayotzinapa and the escape of El Chapo make it necessary to establish a new criminal policy in Mexico.
