The dissident National Teachers Union Section 22 in Oaxaca agreed to boycott the Guelaguetza festival on August 1 since they decided that freedom on bail for four of their leaders was insufficient.
Teachers belonging to the Guerrero state Teachers Union Coordinadora group took over the pay toll on the Autopista del Sol highway at La Venta letting cars through but asking for a voluntary contribution of 50 pesos for their movement… Teachers also commandeered passenger buses to head to Mexico City.

In Nuevo León, teachers belonging to the National Teachers Union, the SNTE, but in the regional group, called for a meeting and a convoy next Wednesday to continue with protests against education reform.
Economic losses from CNTE blockades are estimated at 4.2 billion pesos without taking into account the negative effects on productive activity in different sectors and in homes, according to the private sector Center for Economic Studies.
The head of the Business Coordinating Council, Juan Pablo Castañón called on the government to clamp down on CNTE protesters who set up blockades…
A large gasoline and fuel hike kicks in on Monday… Magna gasoline increases 56 cents to 13.96 pesos per liter and Premium will cost 14.81 pesos per liter and diesel 13.98 cents.
The Mexico State industrial union said that because of increases to gasoline prices there could be a hike in grocery products, milk products, bread, snacks and meat products of up to four percent.
The PRD political action secretary Alejandro Sánchez Camacho lashed out at the latest gasoline hike saying that throughout 2014 the price went up by in total one peso, and Monday’s increase will be of 53 cents… He announced that on Wednesday he will lead a protest in front of the Energy Secretariat and said that the government had promised there would be no further gasoline hikes.
PAN deputies leader Marko Cortés also criticized the gasoline hike saying the government cannot continue to rely on gasoline price increases to jumpstart the economy but rather should foster investment to create jobs…
National Defense Secretariat troops rescued 104 Central American migrants in the town of Oyama in Tamaulipas and they arrested the trailer driver… The migrants included 13 minors and 29 women.
