A few days ago the System of Taxes Administration or Sistema de Administración Tributaria (SAT) reported that starting this July 1st, the prepared food commercialized would suffer an increase of 16% of IVA, meaning, going from 2 to 4 pesos.
The food included for now are sandwiches, tortas, gorditas, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, bars, pizzas, hamburgers, hot dogs, wings, sushi, fast food and nachos among others.
The SAT published a rule to clarify that this increase on the IVA of this type of products should have been applied months ago, among other stores, that because their was a bad application of the law.
Meanwhile a product in a departamental store was sold with the IVA mentioned, on a street store it was sold with a 0% tax, even though this product was supposed to also be affected by the law. The SAT published this rule to avoid anymore misunderstandings for the future, being a law that was applied 15 years ago to every departamental store and that it should been applied to every convenience store and mini super markets.
